Yes, school has gotten to the point of a ridiculously jam-packed schedule for me. Between 10-12 hours of working in the Medical Science Research Labs and B-school classes and all my extra-curriculars, naturally, posting on this Blog has become the last of my priorities. But of course I wanted to update you all on how my classes are going and how school is treating me.
First of ALL, I finally found a Research job in Dr. Margaret Westfall's research Lab in the Medical Science Research Building on the Medical campus. I try to go around 10-12 hours a week to do Medical research on proteins related to Cardiac muscle contraction. Dr. Westfall is a very nice lady, and she does really well at teaching all the laboratory skills. Yesterday was my first day working in the lab, and she taught me how to make gels for the Western Blotting technique [one used to separate proteins].
Cheerleading practices have started up officially this week, and this year we have practices two nights of the week- Monday and Tuesday, from 8-10pm.
I talked to Grace and I believed we have agreed on living together next year, probably in the same apartment I am in now. Taylor's planning on moving closer to the Nursing school next year, Riley is planning on studying abroad, and Kate is applying to be a Residential Hall Advisor (she would live in the dorms again). I am enjoying this apartment a lot, and I am planning on staying here for another year! I am very excited to be living with Grace next year. We will probably be living with other AIVCF girls, but we haven't really decided who the other two girls will be. It will work out though.
Last Friday, I had my big accounting exam. It was RIDICULOUSLY INTENSE. I had studied a lot for it, but I don't know, time wasn't an issue, but it was definitely a pressure factor. We had 90 minutes for 30 problems, but each problem took about 3 minutes, so you definitely had to keep moving on the exam and there wasn't much time to check over the answers. I am relieved that I at least finished it, where several people I spoke with didn't finish. Grades will be posted tomorrow! Ahh!
On the brighter side, I got a 115/115 (=100%) on my Music Theory exam! I kind of expected that though. I also had my Jesus and the Gospels Exam this morning, hopefully it went alright! I have one more exam this week and one big project due on Friday, so it will be yet another busy week.
Ann Arbor has so much good food. Last week, I went out to breakfast on Wednesday with Taylor at this cafe near Main Street called Cafe Zola. I ordered the Autumn Omelette: An open-faced oven baked omelette with artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, green beans, potatoes, and red onions under its melted topping of savory Vermont cheddar cheese. It was very tasty, though I only finished half of it, I brought the other half back as my breakfast for Thursday!
I really love the location of my apartment and our proximity to Main Street, which has the authentic restaurants. Most other housing on campus is much farther from Campus than our apartment, and it is a shame that many college students don't get the opportunity to go out to enjoy Main Street!
Saturday I had the chance to ride my bike to the grocery store. It was about a 3 mile bike ride each way, so I got great exercise in, although it was VERY hot. I just carried my milk and the rest of my groceries in my backpack.
I can not wait until Fall Break. I am really excited to take the brothers to the Apple Orchard/ Cider Mill on Saturday! I have been waiting for Cider Donuts for quite awhile now. It will be a great time! I must go study now, no pictures this time, but hopefully next time!
Oh... also check out this website... It has become one my favorite website that I now visit religiously for ideas!
